• There is life and health in light
• John 12:46  "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth in me should not abide in darkness."
• Look at some truths of God's light

• The absence of light is darkness

• Webster defines miracles as "An extraordinary event, manifesting a supernatural work of God"
• Dorcas stood in need of a miracle
• Look at some Scenes of a Miraculous Resurrection:        

• God desires not to reconstruct you, but to resurrect you.
• John 5:24  "He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life."
               

• II Corinthians 5:17  "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
• Some evidence of a changed man:

• Is there evidence of a change in your life?

• We have been given the ultimate challenge
• Matthew 29:19-20a  "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you."
• Some elements of changing your world one person at a time

• How are you changing your world?
• What kind of witness are you?
• Acts 1:8  "Ye shall be witnesses unto me..." 

• The early Church would find out "consistent faithfulness would produce continued fruitfulness"
• Matthew 5:11-12  "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.  Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

• God is looking for His children to remain faithful, enlarge His church and enlarge you spiritually.  He wants you to be encouraged and be an encourager.

• John 14:6  "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life"

• I Cor. 12:31  "and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way."

• Stephen was a messenger of God
• He pointed out the sins of his hearers
• 2 Tim. 4:2-3 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears"
• Stephen stirred up the ungodly by pointing out their sins.  He pointed out they were guilty of...

• We are all guilty but there is grace.
  "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23

• Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
• Those who deny the Word
• Those who deceive by the Word

• Are you living in opposition to the Word of God?
• 1 Peter 1:25 "But the word of the Lord endureth for ever"
   

• Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"
• Some insights into living by God's design...

• God has a design and purpose for you
• Isaiah 44:2 "Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb"
   

• The world doesn't know what to do with soldout Christians
• The world categorized soldout Christians as Fanatics & Lunatics
• Look at some insights of Persistence Under Fire

• Matthew 25:21 "Well done, thou good and faithful servant"

• 2 Tim. 3:12 "...all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution"
• Jesus said, Matthew 5:10-12 "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. • Look at some events that take place as the Saints persevere

• Perseverance comes through:
  1. Trials          2. Temptations          3. Trust

• Every Christian and church should be looking for growth
• Discipline equals growth; discipline in personal lives; discipline in Church life
• 1 Thes. 4:7 "For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness"
• Notice 3 characteristics of the early Church

• The early Church was powerful because it was pure and progressing
• There was:
  1. Personal purity and progression
  2. Corporate purity and progression
• 1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people..."

• God desires that we "be real"
• God does 2 things here:
  1. He unmasks spiritual imposters
  2. He unveils spiritual insight
• Look at some elements of truth

• Are you being real with God?
• Rev. 22:12 " And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be" 

• Revival is defined as the act of spiritual renewal.  A desire for holy living and a greater religious experience are among the results of true revival
• The greatest spiritual revival for the believer will be experienced when the Lord returns
• What are some expectations surrounding the second-coming revival?

• John 8:36 "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
• Elements of Liberated Living

• Rev. 22:17 "And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely"

• Peter took full advantage of this opportunity to preach the Good News
• Peter brings them and us face to face with our crime
• Look at 3 truths in the Gospel Message Peter preaches

• When justice cried out, Mercy answered
• God answers our rebellion with His goodness and grace
• How can you receive His goodness and grace?
• Acts 3:19 "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord"

• Many people need a hand up and not a hand out...
• Jesus is the lift that will last
• Look at some elements of this divine appointment

• No denying this was a divine appointment
• Today is a divine appointment for you
• 2 Cor. 6:2 "behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." 

• The Church is the body and bride of Christ
• The Church is not built on tradition but on Jesus Christ
• Matthew 16:16 "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God...upon this rock I will build my church"

• The church does not function properly without all the aprts
• Acts 2:41 "They that gladly received his word"

• To preach means to proclaim, or to announce a proclamation...
• Jesus' ministry was marked continuously with biblical preaching...
• These early Christians understood their mission
  1. They Possessed the motivation
  2. They Preached the message
• Look at some characteristics of New Testament preaching

• Preaching the Word was the central focus in the early Church
• The Word changes lives, homes, churches, and nations
• Acts 2:21 " And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

• This chapter marks the birthing point of the Church of Jesus
• The coming of the Spirit of God is the beginning of the Church age
• Look at some insights of the coming of God's Spirit

• John 3:5-6 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
• 1 John 3:24b "And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."
• 1 John 5:6b "And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth."

• To be a Christian is to be a disciple of Christ
• Acts 11:26 "And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."
• To be a disciple is to be in submission to your Lord
• Some actions that mark us as disciples of Christ

• The first act of discipleship is to submit oneself to Jesus as Lord
• The second act is to submit ones life in obedience to His Word
• James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God."

• We are called to share the Good News...
• Acts 5:32 "And we are his witnesses..."
• Characteristics of our call to Evangelize

• Have you received the Message?
• Are you controlled by His Motivation?
• Are you on Mission with God?
  Acts 1:8a "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me..."

• 1 Cor. 11:23 " For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you"
• Paul received and gives a command
• Look at some elements shared at the Lord's table

• Coming to the Lord's Table we take a look back, a look inside, and a look ahead
• 1 Cor. 11:26 "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

• There is power in the resurrection of Jesus Christ
• The power to overcome
  1. Sin
  2. Self
  3. Satan
• Paul writes in Philip. 3:10 "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection"
• Look at some of the powers of the resurrection

• The resurrection give us the power to march on for Jesus
• Philip. 3:13-14 "...this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

• 1 Peter 1:3b tells us that we have "a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"
• Let's look at some experience of the resurrection

• Have you experienced His resurrection?
• Rev. 20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."

• We have experienced a touch from God these past 40 days
  1. A Fresh Touch
  2. A. Fruitful Touch
  3. A Filling Touch
• Look at the blessings of a touch from God

• Have you experienced a touch from God?
• Ephes. 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God"
• You can not experience His Glory until you have experienced His Goodness and His Grace.

• Today we are going to unwrap our orders from Jesus
• Jesus not only calls us to salvation but He calls us to a mission
• Let's look at some characteristics of this call

• Are you fulfilling your mission?
• Don't waste your life, don't wait, go beyond your borders
• Acts 1:8 "ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

• Ministry is being a servant of Christ
• Matthew 20:28 "...the Son of man comes not to be ministered unto, but to minister..."
• Ephes. 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
• You were shaped to serve God. S-H-A-P-E
• Some of the Marks fo a servant like Jesus

• You can do 2 things with your life.  YOu can waste it or you can invest it.
• Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward hi name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
• You were shaped for serving God!  Are you using your shape?

• Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
  It is God's will that we become more and more like His Son Jesus
• This is the 3rd Biblical purpose for our lives: Discipleship
• Look at some insights in true discipleship

• Luke 9:23 "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."
• What is keeping you from true discipleship?
• "A ship in a harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for"
• Matthew 4:21-22 "He call them.  And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed Him."

• The Church is a living organism not a dead organization
• Four levels of fellowship:
  1. Membership                 2. Friendship
  3. Partnership                 4. Kinship
• Three characteristics of a Scriptural Fellowship

• Worship is my response to God's love
• Worship is my respect of God's authority
• Worship is my rejoicing in God's mercy

• God desires our worship.  Are you truly worshipping God?
• Have you given God your affection, your attention and your abilities?
• Start by accepting His love; applying His Word.
• Mark 12:30 "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment."

• We are beginning our 40 day journey with God today!
• Paul tackles the ultimate question - "What on earth am I here for?"
• This is a 3 part question that God answers through Paul

• Where do we find the answer to this question?  IN CHRIST!
• Ephes. 1:11 "In whom also we have obtained an inferitance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.

• "Vision is looking at life through the lens of God's eyes"
• Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish"
• Look at some elements of a captured vision

• What is your vision for your life?  For y our Church?
• "If you aim at nothing you are just likely to hit it"
• Acts 2:17 "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young ment shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams."
